Trim Healthy Mama Fall Menu Plan

I tend to think in terms of seasons, especially where food is concerned. As soon as cooler weather arrives, I automatically start dreaming of soups, breads, and cozy casseroles. Here’s my Trim Healthy Mama fall menu plan.

I spent some time last week flipping through the brand new Trim Healthy Mama cookbook and jotting down all the things that sounded like they would be perfect for fall and winter.

I also included some favorites that aren’t in the cookbook. (I also regularly find and pin new recipes on my THM Pinterest board.)

Rather than assign these recipes to certain days, I just made a list and I’m plugging them into my monthly menu plan wherever they fit best.

Don’t those recipes sound amazing? In my meal rotation I also have things like roast chicken (we get pastured poultry from the Amish and then I make bone broth in the crock-pot with the bones after our meal) and quiche.

I try to make bone broth about once a week. And we are eating lots of quiche since we have an abundance of eggs from my parents’ chickens!

New Trim Healthy Mama Books

I’m extremely excited about these two new books! I was enthusiastic about their first book (review here), and bought it as soon as it came out. But these two books are just amazing!
The new plan book is so much easier to follow and understand than the first book. And the cookbook is just full of beautiful photographs! I’m a visual person, so that’s a major plus for me. The more photos the better!
Here are just a few of the gorgeous photos included in the cookbook:

Look at this beautiful Soft Sprouted Bread (recipe uses honey and sprouted flour):

I can’t wait to dive into these new recipes, especially the Chicken Pot Pie! The cookbook does include some recipes with ingredients you won’t find at your local grocery store.

Thankfully, I already had the baking blend and the sweeteners in my pantry, and this book gives me recipes to use those items in!

Do you have the new Trim Healthy Mama cookbook? Have you tried any recipes from it yet? I’m hoping they’re as delicious as they look! 🙂

    1. I'm a bit down on the wait list for the books. My turn will probably come after the holidays…perfect timing. Ha. I was wondering – do these books work together? Meaning are you making the "plan" from the companion cookbook? Or do they work alone too? Either way, it will be nice to have some new food inspiration. 🙂

    2. You'd only need the plan book if you're trying to do the Trim Healthy Mama plan and want to understand it. If you already understand the plan (from the previous book), or if you're just looking for some great gluten-free recipes and aren't interested in the plan, then the cookbook could stand alone.

We enjoyed the meatloaf last night—my husband said he liked it better than the recipe I've been using for years! 🙂

  1. Thank you very much for this review. I have been considering going on this plan. Which of the three books do you think would be the one to get, if I was getting only one?
    Thank you,
    Davina

    1. You're welcome, Davina! I love the two newest books, as I think they're so nicely done. The cookbook has wonderful photos and new recipes, but it doesn't tell you how to do the plan. If you only got the new THM Plan book, you wouldn't have any recipes, although you can find lots of them on Pinterest. I guess if I could only choose one book, I'd probably invest in the first one if it's still in print (I know they have it in eBook form here). If you got the first one, you'd have both the plan and the recipes in one book. Hope that helps!

    2. I just checked, and the first book is still in print here! So, if you'd rather have a paper version, they have that available too. Not sure why I thought it might not be available! The original version doesn't have any photos, but it has recipes and the information all in that one book. 🙂

    1. Laura, I think you'll love it! The cookbook is beautiful and has lots of new recipes along with some familiar ones from the first book. I'm very impressed with it! 🙂

  2. I have several friends who do THM. I looked into it but all the different types of meals confused me. I'm a black and white kinda gal and there were way too many variables for me. I have heard of a lot of ladies who have had success. Thanks for the review.

    1. Yes, some of it can seem confusing, especially at first. The new Trim Healthy Mama Plan book is a lot less confusing than the original, self-published book. There have been times I have been tempted to give up on it (and I have, a few times), but my husband really prefers that I cook this way (for the health benefits), so that motivates me to keep pressing on! 🙂
